Objectives
ITB is currently developing in cooperation with Institut für Bildungsforschung (BIBF), Institut für Informationsmanagement (ifib) and constructiv GmBH the video-community draufhaber.tv.
Draufhaber.tv means literally »dab hand.tv«.
Young people in the school-to-work transition phase, apprentices, young employees or job seekers can demonstrate their skills and practical abilities in videos and demonstrate their knowledge in how-to-do like videos to their community. Those videos can be used to create a competence profile in terms of an e-portfolio to demonstrate their vocational orientation. The objective of the project is to link the informal use of video communities widely spread in the young cohort with formal educational processes. Through this new ways of using web2.0 technologies for educational processes will be made available.
Methodology
The project is structured along three main phases in which different user groups are addressed and the video community is developed further.
The first phase includes the principle design and creation of the video platform and the features for community building.
In the second phase, video editing tools will be integrated to allow a remix of videos to transform »performance videos« into »how-to-do videos«. Those remixes can be done by any users of the platform, linking community members with more practical skills to members with explanatory skills and know-how.
The third phase seeks the integration of experts (teachers and trainers) into the platform to extend the use of the platform into the formal education system. Additionally, different business models will be explored.
