Against the background of an emerging hydrogen industry in Namibia, the ITB's task in this project is (a) to identify qualification needs and gaps in the vocational curricula and training programs, (b) to propose necessary adaptations & additions and (c) to support the Namibia University of Science and Technology (NUST Namibia) in the further development of its vocational courses. Various discussions were held as part of the fact-finding mission with the MHETI Ministry of Higher Education, Training and Innovation, the Namibia Training Authority, the Namibia Qualification Authority, the Namibia University of Science and Technology, the Walvis Bay Corridor Group, the Windhoek Vocational Training Center and the Namibian Institute for Mining and Technology.
The project is based on the recently published study Enhancing Employment, is steered in cooperation between the Senate Chancellery, Department International Relations and Development Cooperation of the Freie Hansestadt Bremen and the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH and is supported in Namibia by the GIZ Programme Promotion of Technical and Vocational Education and Training (ProTVET). Many special thanks for the support on site to Jerry Beukes, the programme manager of ProTVET and Dörte Schneider, Components Manager of ProTVET.
