New Project on Training for Construction Site Managers

A new project on the reform of the training for construction site managers has been started in March 2016 with funding from the programme „Digital media for vocational education and training (VET)“ of the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF). The project DigiProB focuses on curriculum development and the final examination (of the certified construction site managers) with an emphasis on work oriented learning. There are digital media web tools developed as to support for work-related and self-organised learning processes.
Apprenticeship training at Bau-ABC, Rostrup

The key promoter of the project is Bau-ABC in Rostrup, Bad Zwischenahn (the intermediate training centre of the North-German building and construction industries). The context for pilot activities is the recently reformed training for certified construction site managers (Geprüfte Polier). The pilot activities include the introduction of new media and tools in the intensive course period (in the beginning of the training) as well as the problem- and project-based learning phase (after that period). In this context the project supports the guest trainers (lecturers) in their efforts to link the subject-based contents to the integrated learning tasks and projects of the participants. At the same time the project supports sharing of knowledge and experience among the participants.

In addition to the Bau-ABC, also regional software service providers (Targis and Embeteco, Oldenburg) are involved in the project. The role of ITB, as responsible for accompanying research activities, is to study the learning contexts, to participate in curriculum development and to carry out evaluation measures. Currently Dr Ludger Deitmer, Dr Lars Heinemann and Christian Staden are working in the ITB project team.
