The European research network "Vocational Education and Training Network" (VETNET)
VETNETs objectives are,
- to promote the discussion and mutual exchanges on research designs, concept development and the use of research results across Europe;
- to explore the relations between research, policy and practice in education, training and professional development;
- to foster high quality of research in the field of Vocational Education and Training;
- to encourage cooperation between individual researchers and their networks in the European research area.
In the first phase of the VETNET network (1996–2000) it was chaired by
Prof. Martin Mulder (University of Twente, latterly University of Wageningen). In the next phase (2000–2003) the network was chaired by Dr. Toni Griffiths (University College London), supported by an elected VETNET Board. From 2003 to 2011 the network was chaired by Dr. Ludger Deitmer (ITB) with the support of the elected Board. In 2011 Prof. Dr. Michael Gessler (ITB) became elected as the chair. He is supported by the elected Board and an elected executive committee. The members of the committee are Dr. Margret Malloch (University of East London and Victoria University Melbourne), Dr. Ludger Deitmer (ITB) and Prof. Fernando Marhuenda (University of Valencia).
The VETNET network organises regularly (since 1997) its own section programme at the annual European Conference on Educational Research (ECER). The network has a broad range of activities that are presented on the following websites:

This website presents information on VETNET programme at ECER. In addition, it enables VETNET members to cooperate between conferences and to share information on new initiatives. Recently the website includes also VETNET History Blog that informs of developments in European VET research.
