NordWestVET doctoral colloquium in Cologne

On 20 and 21 November 2025, Frieda Klaus, Lisa Meyne, Dr. habil. Susanne Peters and Prof. Dr. Dr. h.c. Michael Gessler took part in NordWestVET. NordWestVET is a supra-regional doctoral colloquium that brings together doctoral students and their supervisors from the University of Bremen, the University of Cologne, the Technical University of Dortmund and the University of Osnabrück.

The focus and unique selling point of the colloquium is its international comparative perspective. With lectures and poster presentations on current vocational training topics from Japan, the United Arab Emirates, India, Ireland, and Germany, the programme offered plenty of opportunity to explore different contexts and research approaches. The topics covered were as diverse as the regional and national contexts: innovation through vocational education and training, professionalisation of education personnel, transition systems in vocational education and training, recruitment structures and sustainability, and green skills in teacher training were among the topics covered.

Many thanks to Julia Regel and the entire organising team at the University of Cologne for an excellently coordinated and atmospheric event!
