Based on data from the Horizon Europe-funded project ‘Skill Partnerships for Sustainable and Just Migration Patterns’ (SKILLS4JUSTICE), the article examines how and to what extent VET providers initiate and promote the integration and participation of migrants and which structural elements target skills. In addition, the study also looked at how VET providers assess their own potential with regard to the sustainable integration of labour migrants.

Two of the key findings are:

  • Whether measures enable migrants to exercise their rights and capabilities depends on factors such as the adaptation of VET providers to the requirements of the labour market and individual commitment
  • Social integration and inclusion must be given even greater consideration, as sustainable participation also requires social networking, recognition in the workplace and social participation that goes beyond purely formal measures.
