Taccle VET – Extend European Framework for the Digital Competence of Educators for VET Teachers and Trainers

Problem: The European Research Council has provided a framework (DigCompEdu) (JRC, Redeker, Punie, 2017) including recommendations for actions regarding how to deal with digital media for the classroom of teachers of general education lessons in the European Union. The Joint Research Council Report is missing the perspective how to consider the special features of vocational education in order to make specific recommendations for actions of vocational school teachers and vocational trainers. This project is aiming to close this “gap”.

Objective: TACCLE VET is aiming to enhance the European framework for development of digital competences with regard to vocational education. Question: Implications for digital re-designing of teaching and learning in four vocational areas (construction, agriculture, tourism, wellness) will be more in-depth surveyed through expert interviews with regard to special features of vocational education.

Results: Within the range of more than 40 interviews with selected experts from school, training centres, and in-company learning locations, the needs for changes of the vocational educational processes are analysed with regard to their digital and media design and redesign. Central areas of responsibilities of the teachers are intensified in about 20 action scenarios. Finally, recommendations of actions are designed for the regional respectively European level as well as for the educational practice.
