Smart learning in logistics – Funding period: 2021 to 2024

On September 1, 2021, the project "SMALO - Smart Learning in Logistics", funded by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF), started as part of the funding guideline "INVITE - Innovation Competition Digital Platform for Continuing Professional Development". The project sponsor is the BIBB.

The ITB and the project partners wisoak (project coordinator), BALance Technology Consulting GmbH, M.I.T e-Solutions GmbH, maritimes competenzcentrum GmbH (ma-co) (economy), to-be-now-logistics-research-gmbh, LUB Consulting GmbH, the BIBA (science) pursue as a project consortium in SMALO the goal of developing a platform-based continuing vocational education and training (CVET) in the sense of a digital learning ecosystem for selected occupational fields of logistics. Using agile methods, different perspectives and needs of employees are identified in order to enable individual learning based on flexible adaptive and advancement-oriented learning paths.

The project was initiated against the background of the increased use of technologies in the logistics sector in particular, while at the same time substitution risks with a low level of participation in further training are becoming apparent, especially in helping occupations. A look at CVET in the logistics sector indicates a large number of courses on offer. For this reason, SMALO combines existing CVET offerings for the logistics sector in order to provide those interested in CVET with a central point of access, a clearer overview of the offerings, and a low-threshold entry. In the process, AI-based methods support users in selecting suitable learning opportunities.
