Joint project launched for digitally supported training at KAEFER

Together with KAEFER Industrie GmbH, the ITB is carrying out a project in which a digitally supported, work process-oriented and competence-promoting training concept is being developed and implemented in training practice for the professions of "industrial skilled worker" and "industrial insulator". Over an initial period of two years, various technical tools from the Competence Workshop (see link in blue box) will be combined into a training dashboard, the implementation of which will be accompanied by numerous workshops on vocational and media education and supported by KAEFER Industrie with extensive personnel and equipment resources. In the training workshop in Getreidestraße in Bremen's Überseestadt district, a modern, extensively media-equipped training center is gradually being created, in which training personnel and trainees will in future be able to use the potential of digital media integratively for the design of vocational teaching and learning processes on the one hand and the acquisition of vocational skills on the other.
Digital media in training at KAEFER

After the start-up phase of the project was successfully initiated in the third and fourth quarters of 2020 with a comprehensive, cooperative analysis of conditions and requirements with regard to the structures and contents already used in training practice at KAEFER, as well as a subsequent acquisition and commissioning of the technical infrastructure, the development of concrete teaching-learning situations and their digitally supported implementation can be worked on in the further course of the project. For this purpose, tablets provided by KAEFER (incl. keyboard case plus pen input) are now available to all trainees. Display solutions have been installed both in the training workshop and in the adjacent training room, on which screen content from the tablets or other sources can be mirrored at any time and thus made available to other learners, discussed in the group or worked on cooperatively. Exchange processes are also supported by the fact that trainers and trainees have their own Microsoft 365 company account. The training dashboard is where all the threads come together. The "Task Manager", "Training Portfolio" and "Competence Check" tools are also available here. In addition, the "content kit" for building a common knowledge database in the form of a "KAEFER Wiki" is already being actively maintained. Structures and content stored in the tools of the training dashboard can be used again in subsequent cohorts in the industrial insulator or industrial skilled worker training and can always be expanded.
