Social Competence in the 3D Printer Training Project

On June 1, 2018, the research project "Social Competence in the 3D Printer Training Project (SOKO3D)", funded by the Federal Ministry of Economics and Energy (BMWi), was launched. The project is being carried out by the ITB in cooperation with Schaeffler Technologies AG & Co. KG.

Beyond the hype about new IT qualification requirements, the project focuses on the promotion of social competencies in training. The interdisciplinary training and learning project "Development and Design of a 3D Printer" tests concepts to promote social competence in the work process and apply them in practice. This learning project will be implemented at the Wuppertal site. The project is equally beneficial for both trainees and trainees: the close relationship to the training means that trainees are informed about their level of social skills and their relevance for their further career development; trainers are supported in implementing training that is sensitive to discrimination. The aim is to make a contribution to the quality of training with special emphasis on the promotion of social competence.

Two teams with 6 trainees each are expected to be involved in the implementation at the company location in Wuppertal. The training occupations involved will be mechatronics technicians, electronics technicians, industrial mechanics and warehouse logistics specialists. Since the work and learning project (ALP) 3D printer is closely oriented to the contents relevant to training, no additional work is created for the trainees. The empirical data collection by the University of Bremen is carried out through guideline-based interviews, questionnaires and workshops. The project duration is 12 months.
