Research

Technologies in vocational education contexts

Vocational reality and the associated work processes are significantly shaped by the prevailing technologies and are changing as a result of ongoing technical progress. The associated changes within vocational requirement profiles must be taken into account in the context of vocational training. Current topics include digitalization and interaction between humans and machines.

Lifelong learning

Considering the constant changes in society and the world of work, people are required to face up to the associated changes in requirements at various levels. On the one hand, acceptance of these changes and the ability to adapt to new conditions or activities are important. On the other hand, the effort to develop one's own competencies on one's own responsibility is also of increased importance.

Use of media

Digital media offer great potential for use in teaching-learning contexts. However, the targeted design and use of the media in a way that is conducive to learning represents a major challenge for both teachers and learners. In this context, the added value compared to conventional forms of presentation, the effort required to generate content, and usability must considered in particular.

  • WASABI - AI in human-centred manufacturing

    WASABI will create intelligent digital assistance solutions to enable SMEs to hire new employees faster and train and upskill them more efficiently, centred on the employees. The solutions will enable them to interact with complex software via natural language and thus meet skill requirements.
  • WBV-HB – Continuous Education Training Network Automotive Industry Bremen

  • KIM – Artificial intelligence as a mentor for lifelong learning

    In the joint project "KIM – Artificial Intelligence as a Mentor for Lifelong Learning", an AI solution will be developed that offers users of professional training platforms targeted assistance in the selection of training opportunities. The users and their professional and career wishes are the focus of the project. They initially carry out a self-assessment of their competencies and express their current professional and career wishes, as well as their own preferences (e.g. free and paid offers, time restrictions with regard to course offers, etc.).
  • KIWI – Artificial Intelligence for Customized Training and Further Education to Strengthen Employability with Progressive Digital Penetration of Production in the Context of Industry 4.0

    In the KIWI project, an application for smartphones is being developed for employees in production that enables a cross-platform search for precisely matching training and further education offers with the help of artificial intelligence. Due to digitalization and the associated increase in automation, production is subject to rapid change, which is also going hand in hand with changes in requirement profiles and job profiles.

    More women in IT - but how? Since the end of last year, the project "F.IT Frauen in IT" has been working on an answer to this question.   • tekom_LandBauMT – Technical communication in learning and working processes of agricultural and construction machinery mechatronics technicians in the context of Industry 4.0

    Progressive digitalisation and networking in industry and craft sector are increasingly changing requirements and activities in the occupation of agricultural and construction machinery mechatronics technician. This includes increased use of diagnostic, analysis and design software in agricultural and construction machinery technology, advancing use of high-voltage technology, increasing system networking as well as augmented/virtual and mixed reality technologies. However, inter-company training programmes for trainees in agricultural and construction machinery mechatronics do not take this digital change into account to a sufficient extent yet. The project "tekom_LandBauMT" addresses these challenges by modernising inter-company training measures for agricultural and construction machinery mechatronics technicians.
  • WinATutor – Förderung didaktischer E-Learning Anwendungsszenarien

    Das Projekt E-learning Einheit zum Thema „Gute wissenschaftliche Praxis“ wird uni-intern im Rahmen von „Win a Tutor – Didaktische E-Learning Anwendungsszenarien“ gefördert. Da im August 2019 die Neuauflage der Leitlinien zur guten Wissenschaftlichen Praxis der DFG veröffentlicht wurden, soll im Rahmen dieses Projekts eine E-Learning Einheit zur „guten wissenschaftlichen Praxis“ erstellt und erprobt werden. Die Einheit wird aus einem interaktiven Kursteil sowie einem Onlinetest bestehen. Der folienbasierte Kursteil soll Erklärvideos zu aktuellen Fallbeispielen enthalten und durch Lernerfolgskontrollen und Übungsbeispiele ergänzt werden.
  • KoRA – Competence development for design of human-robot collaboration using a mixed reality-based teaching-learning concept

    In the KoRA project, a teaching-learning concept is designed to develop and promote competencies in field of collaborative robotics and design of human-robot collaboration in vocational education and training. This is implemented with a mixed reality learning software in which complex assembly problems are solved in form of learning and work tasks. In the context of development, necessary haptic feedback for the target groups is being investigated in parallel. Through transfer into virtual reality, work process can be experienced and designed detached from the real operational process. Thus, project-based and action-oriented learning is possible.
  • LaSiDig – Ladungssicherung trifft Medienkompetenz

    Die Transport- und Logistikbranche durchläuft aufgrund der Digitalisierung der Arbeit und des Alltages grundlegende Wandlungsprozesse. Vor diesem Hintergrund entwickelt das BMBF-geförderte Projekt LaSiDig eine innovative Lernlösung für das Thema Ladungssicherung, die es Beschäftigten in Transport und Logistik ermöglicht, miteinander vernetzt und im Prozess der Arbeit zu lernen und sich wichtige Kompetenzen im Umgang mit digitalen Medien anzueignen. Ladungssicherung auf der Straße, der Schiene, zur See und in der Luft gilt es dabei zu beachten.
