DEVISE4KE partner meeting in Homa Bay

From July 22 to 27, 2024, the DEVISE4KE consortium convened in Homa Bay, Kenya, for a transnational partners meeting, coordinated by Vivian Harberts from the Institute of Technology and Education. This meeting primarily focused on the completion of the third work package, which centers on the implementation of photovoltaic installations in Vocational Education and Training (VET) schools.
Installation of the photovoltaic systems

During the week, the consortium achieved several key milestones:

  • Test Loop Execution: A test loop of the designed Learning and Work Task (LWT) titled "Installation of Photovoltaics Equipment" was conducted for stakeholders at Rongo University which resulted in a successful installation of photovoltaics
  • Solar Equipment Implementation: Photovoltaic systems were installed and tested in three participating VET schools, guided by the LWT framework.
  • Teacher Training Sessions: Additional training sessions were conducted for teachers, focusing on photovoltaics and co-creation methods.

The meeting was deemed a resounding success, with all partners expressing enthusiasm about the progress made.

The DEVISE4KE project aims to modernize VET in the rural Homa Bay region by integrating digital technologies and sustainable energy solutions into educational practices. This initiative addresses critical challenges such as the digital divide, the need for industry-relevant competencies, and energy reliability issues that affect educational institutions.

Through collaborative efforts, the consortium is making significant strides toward establishing a sustainable and modern educational framework in Homa Bay, ultimately enhancing the learning environment and opportunities for students in the region.
