Workshop series on the design of learning situations in the FLAME project

The collaboration between the Hamburg Fire Service Academy and the Institute of Technology and Education in the ‘Modern and Efficient Fire Service Career Training’ (FLAME) project can look back on the first half of the three-year project period and, in the course of this, on a large number of jointly implemented workshops on the design of learning situations.

The aim of the project is to modernise and expand training for firefighters at the Hamburg Fire Service Department through work process-oriented and skills-promoting concepts. For this purpose, Falk Howe, Claudia Fenzl, Nils Weinowski and Lisa Meyne organised eight workshops at the Hamburg Fire Service Academy in the first half of the project, which were dedicated to the development of learning situations and their design in the classroom based on the learning field concept. In addition to the creation of a common conceptual basis for the integration of fire service-specific emergency situations and its reference for the design of learning situations, the focus was primarily on the interactive guidance of learning processes through reflection and transfer and the inclusion of digital media and tools as part of the modernisation of trainings.
