Dr Susanne Peters has successfully completed her habilitation achievements

The habilitation achievements included a habilitation thesis on the topic ‘Varieties of VET Research: A German Perspective in International Contexts’, proof of further training in higher education didactics and a public lecture on 25 April 2025 on the topic ‘Possibilities and limits of continuing vocational education and training (CVET) in companies to cope with the socio-ecological transformation and implications for initial vocational education and training (IVET)’ followed by a colloquium.
Habilitation candidate and examination board

With the forthcoming award of the habilitation certificate, Dr Peters will receive the teaching authorisation (venia legendi) for the subject area of vocational and business education and the right to use the title ‘Privatdozentin an der Universität Bremen’. The Habilitation is the highest academic qualification beyond the doctorate in Germany and in several other higher education systems; it certifies a scholar’s ability to conduct independent research and to teach at professorial level. Consequently, it formally qualifies the holder to assume a full professorship at German universities and at many other universities in Europe and beyond.

The members of the examination board were Prof. Dr.-Ing. Maren Petersen (Chair, University of Bremen), Prof. Dr Ralph Dreher (University of Siegen), Prof. Dr Matthias Pilz (University of Cologne), Prof. Dr Dr Dr h.c. Michael Gessler (University of Bremen), Dr Ida Kristina Kühn (University of Bremen), Brigitte Schweckendieck (University of Bremen), Denise Klinge (University of Bremen) and Michelle Diekmann (University of Bremen).

Our warmest congratulations!
