Promoting sustainability-oriented skills in logistics

Rising commodity prices, the CO₂ tax, increasing customer demands on their supply chains and the expectations of young talent are making sustainability a key issue for logistics. Companies need specialists who not only understand logistics processes, but can also shape them sustainably.

On 26.06.2025, the NaLoGO project held an intensive discussion with representatives from companies, educational institutions and academia at the joint partner maritimes competenzcentrum GmbH (ma-co) in Hamburg on how to implement sustainability-oriented skills development and the key role of trainees. During the workshop, it became clear that trainers are far more than just imparters of knowledge: They shape the values, attitudes and professional identity of junior staff. At the end of the workshop, the participants had the opportunity to try out the learning materials already created for the project.
