In Germany, the Biba - Bremen Institute for Production and Logistics and the Institute Technology and Education (ITB) at the University of Bremen were involved. Biba was responsible for coordinating the EU project, which had a total funding volume of EUR 5.7 million. Prof. Dr.-Ing. Maren Petersen was involved in the internal project management for the ITB and Jan Naumann in the development, implementation and evaluation of use cases. The consortium researched and developed the voice assistant using three exemplary use cases from the industrial fields of textiles, chemicals and household appliances (white goods): at the production sites and with the data of the project partners Fratelli Piacenza (Italy), Diversey Netherlands Production (Netherlands) and Whirlpool Management EMEA (Italy). In addition, the Biella Textile Academy (Italy) was involved with its wide range of training courses for skilled workers.
The COALA project focused on the development of a digital voice assistant for the manufacturing industry based on trustworthy AI. It also focused on AI ethics and the use of the voice assistant in vocational education and training. In this project field, the ITB developed, implemented and evaluated a didactic concept using the textile industry as an example.
Among others, the K-Zeitung (industry and opinion portal for the plastics industry) reported in detail on the success and economic relevance of the "COALA" project. You can find the article, as well as the project description, via the link in the blue box.
