Getting into exchange with each other - for cohesion and solidarity. "The Bremen Living Room" series of events has begun

With the new cooperation between the University of Bremen and the Bremen Adult Education Center, Prof. Dr. Alisha M.B. Heinemann (University of Bremen) and Ralf Perplies (Director of the Bremen Adult Education Center) have conceived the event series "The Bremen Living Room". The aim is to promote social interaction through a civil society meeting space and to help combat isolation and social division. Spaces are created in which discussions on socially relevant topics can still take place even if not everyone agrees.
Organizers and speakers

On April 23, 2024, the first event took place on the newly opened first floor of the Bamberger House of the Bremen Adult Education Center under the topic Shaping the future! The speakers including: Jermaine Greene (Werder Bremen), Antje Grotheer (Präsidentin der Bremer Bürgerschaft), Dr. Helmut Hafner (Anneliese-Loose-Hartke-Stiftung) and Ömer Kaya (Haus der Zukunft e.V. Bremen-Lüssum) were present.

After brief impulses from the committed experts based in Bremen, the visitors and speakers engaged in discussions in moderated small groups.

The next event will take place on May 28, 2024, with the topic Countering the shift to the right! Nazanin Ghafouri (Bremer Flüchtlingsrat), Sewita Mebrahtu (Arbeitsstelle gegen Diskriminierung und Gewalt, Uni Bremen) and Dr. Lukas Otterspeer (TU Dortmund) will be present as speakers.

On 18 June 2024, the focus will be on dealing with climate change and will be accompanied by contributions from Dr. Rosane Yara Rodrigues Guerra (Bremer Entwicklungspolitisches Netzwerk), Friederike Schomburg (Klimaangst - Wenn die Klimakrise auf die Psyche schlägt) and Julia Völker (KlimaWerkStadt).

Interested people are cordially invited to take part in the follow-up events (Faulenstr. 69, 28195 Bremen). The events are free of charge. Registration is not necessary. However, if you would like to receive information in the future, you can register on the living room mailing list (Iris Haseborg: sek.heinemann@uni-bremen.de).
