ITB congratulates Felix Rauner on his 80th birthday

On May 3, Prof. Dr. Felix Rauner will turn 80. After studying at the University of Education in Berlin, the trained electrical engineer worked for two years as a vocational school teacher and then as head of department at what is now the Federal Institute for Vocational Education and Training. In 1978, he took up a professorship in the vocational subject of electrical engineering informatics and vocational education at the University of Bremen. There, in 1986, he was one of the four founders of the Institute Technology and Education (ITB), which today is one of the largest and most important vocational education research institutions worldwide.
Prof. Dr. Felix Rauner

Felix Rauner was always concerned to make his research results known to a broad public and to sensitize representatives from politics and industry to issues of vocational education and training and thus to bring about improvements in vocational education and training in schools and companies. Until his retirement in 2006, he had a decisive influence on and promoted the work of our institute, but his thoughts and ideas have an impact far beyond the ITB.

Even after his retirement, Felix Rauner has remained a tireless campaigner for dual vocational education and training and for vocational education and training research, always getting involved in political and social discussions.

We wish him all the best and look forward to many more valuable contributions to vocational education and training research.
