The European Vocational Skills Week 2019 focuses on discussing multiple stakeholder perspectives on the implementation of Vocational Education and Training (VET) and how this can be beneficial for the future of Europe. Furthermore, the very best of training and skills through thousands of events and activities across Europe will be highlighted in order to show why Vocational Education and Training is a smart choice for individuals and companies.
Vocational Education and Training (VET) excellence can be showcased by recognising committed people, organisations and outstanding projects. This is why excellence awards are organized in the framework of the week. There is a specific award for Research in Vocational Education and Training. A Nominees Awards Celebration event will be held in Helsinki on 17 October. The prizes will be handed out by Marianne Thyssen, European Commissioner for Employment, Social Affairs, Skills and Labour Mobility. The pre-selection and nomination process was directed by Prof. Dr. Barbara Stalder, Link Convenor of the European Research Network in Vocational Education and Training (VETNET). Prof. Dr. Dr. h.c. Michael Gessler was a member of the selection and nomination committee.
