MeLoDi – Network People and Logistics in Digitalisation

Problem: Actual developments inside the small and medium-sized characterised logistics sector in Germany are leading to a higher competitive pressure, which leads to increasingly automatization and digitalisation strategies. The accompanying internal and external networking with different actors and work processes leads especially in operative work areas to changing competence requirements and a higher need for further training for the employees.

Objective: The project MeLoDi is developing as part of the BMBF funding guideline “Digital Media in the Vocational Education” a sector-specific network platform for small and medium-sized transport and logistic companies. Besides the networking of the companies, a focus is set on the sharing and the implementation of digital media into the in-company further training of the employees.

Research questions:

  1. How are changing work tasks, organisation models and competence requirements in digital working worlds for the employees in the work areas in transport and warehousing?
  2. Which digital form of further education can be used for encouragement of these competences?

Research approach: The survey has been conducted using a Mixed-Method-Design, on the basis of social science and vocational pedagogical survey methods. The used research design comprises online surveys as quantitative as well as expert interviews and work process analyses as qualitative survey methods.

Interim results: Reports and presentation of results from the requirements analyse, establishment and starting up of network platform as well as presentation of survey results at the European Conference on Educational Research (ECER) in Hamburg (2019), handouts with results out of project workshops.
