tekom_LandBauMT – Technical communication in learning and working processes of agricultural and construction machinery mechatronics technicians in the context of Industry 4.0

Progressive digitalisation and networking in industry and craft sector are increasingly changing requirements and activities in the occupation of agricultural and construction machinery mechatronics technician. This includes increased use of diagnostic, analysis and design software in agricultural and construction machinery technology, advancing use of high-voltage technology, increasing system networking as well as augmented/virtual and mixed reality technologies. However, inter-company training programmes for trainees in agricultural and construction machinery mechatronics do not take this digital change into account to a sufficient extent yet. The project "tekom_LandBauMT" addresses these challenges by modernising inter-company training measures for agricultural and construction machinery mechatronics technicians.

The project "tekom_LandBauMT" investigates requirements and needs of the agricultural and construction machinery sector in order to adapt inter-company training courses for the occupation of agricultural and construction machinery mechatronics technician. The effects of digitalisation are given special consideration. The Bau-ABC Rostrup as a training center and the ITB are jointly striving to prepare future skilled workers in the best possible way for requirements of digital transformation of this occupational field and to establish a comparable level of competence in training focus areas of agricultural machinery and construction machinery.

The ITB's work packages are guided by the vocational science concept of the “Kompetenzwerkstatt”. With the help of sector analysis the underlying profession and the associated technology fields as well as economic sectors are analysed - especially from the aspect of effects of digitalisation - and access to the research field is opened up. This field approach is supplemented with work process analyses and skilled worker/expert workshops, which lead to development of professional field of action structure for the occupation of agricultural and construction machinery mechatronics technician. Development of professional field structure for the occupation of agricultural and construction machinery mechatronics technician creates vocational scientific basis for making a well-founded selection of digitally supported learning and work tasks against the background of digital change in the occupation. These selected digitally supported learning and work tasks are created, tested and optimised together with instructors from the Bau-ABC Rostrup so that they can be applied in the regular operation of inter-company training.

In addition, the ITB is supporting the project team in planning and setting up an experimental and transfer laboratory where, among other things, new learning scenarios will be designed and tested, digital technologies will be tested, those involved in training will be trained and examples of good practice will be presented to the public.

The project "tekom_LandBauMT" started in November 2020 and will run until 30 June 2023. The project is funded by the Bundesministeriums für Bildung und Forschung (BMBF) as part of the special programme "Digitalisierung der ÜBA" and is supported by the Bundesinstitut für Berufsbildung (BIBB).
