In order to cope with these challenges, the European automotive industry does not only rely on initial vocational training, but has also developed differentiated concepts for continuing and further training.

To overcome these exclusively company‐specific solutions and to arrive at a strategic European orientation, an evaluation of the predominant domain related competences in the sector is recommendable and would lead to the development of a sectoral approach for establishing a qualifications framework. The core of this process is the description and analysis of domain related competences, as well as the comparison and matching of these competences with the European Qualifications Framework and National Qualifications Frameworks
