Regional Cooperation Platform on Vocational Teacher Education in Asia (RCP)

The lack of highly qualified teachers and trainers who perform well in Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) is a pervasive phenomenon in emerging economies in the ASEAN region. Teaching staff not only directly influences the quality of the workforce but also have an impact on the support of regional learning and innovation processes.

RCP is a network that serves universities involved in Vocational Teacher Education (VTE) in the ASEAN region and China. RCP is supported by the German GIZ and the BMZ. Founded in 2009, it currently incorporates members of Thailand, Vietnam, Cambodia, Laos, Singapore, Indonesia, Malaysia, Brunei, China and Germany. Major goals are the exchange of experiences among the partners, the development of VTE programmes and conducting common research projects.

ITB‘s main tasks are
• scientific counseling of RCP research projects (studies),
• collaborating in the development of a bachelor programme for TVET teacher studies,
• supporting RCP conferences and workshops,
• conducting seminars and workshops.
